The name's Ratchet and I'm the medic for a group of rowdy young Autobots. We were originally assigned as a space bridge repair crew, but after we accidentally got our hands on the Allspark and our afts handed to us by Megatron (although Prime did alright, good kid), we fell through a space bridge and crash landed on Earth...specifically in Michigan. Now we're stuck there with the Sumdac family as our guide in this strange organic world.

General OOC Information: Ratchet, while the oldest mech on his crew and possessing what some may refer to as an awful bedside manner, is still a valuable asset to Optimus Prime's team. He's seen and done more than any of the others and as Prime's seasoned second in command, can often offer vital advice in tough situations. Growing old has not made him helpless, either, as his transformations are still quick and his "natural" and learned abilities are still sharp as a tack. As each Autobot possesses some special ability, Ratchet's is the ability to use magnetic fields to pull, repel and even reshape any metal object. He recently reacquired his arm mounted EMP generator, taking it back from the bounty hunter who cut it out of him as a trophy during the Great War.

Don't let the "cranky old mech" behavior allow you to believe that Ratchet is consistently grouchy, however. He has a good sense of humor and demonstrates a certain special compassion for smaller beings as he gets to know them. He's got a real soft spot in his spark for the likes of Sari, as well as the courage to fight furiously for the lives of his patients.

Regarding Nexus-based AU Information: Ratchet took in a young lady with the designation "Eleven" (arguewithmyself) after meeting her in the Nexus. In an effort to hide her from the facility that created her and made her into a human weapon, he took her to Autobot HQ in futuristic Detroit where he hoped her humanity would reestablish itself. The dynamic between Ratchet and Eleven worked out to be one of a guardian and his charge, a close relationship that often demonstrated the ability in both for quiet, yet platonic intimacy. Their time together came to a terrible end, however, when loyal Site Xavier soldiers found Eleven in the Nexus and threatened her with the death of her Autobot friends if she did not return to her rightful place at the labs. Unaware of the threats against them and of Eleven's fate until it was far too late to do anything about it, the Autobots lost one of their closest human companions to date. Currently, they monitor and patrol the Nexus when they have the time, seeking more information about Site Xavier and if it's possible to destroy the place so that it can no longer produce living weapons. Encounters with most Xavier creations have gone awry in the past and under Optimus Prime's orders, the Autobots are to avoid confrontations with the soldiers whenever possible in favor of more passive routes of securing information. Time will tell whether they'll find Site Xavier...and whether or not the re-education process forced upon Eleven will keep her from forever remembering the family she was forced to leave behind in Detroit.

The Arcee from this Ratchet's reality is was played by another Sages user. Their relationship remained wholly platonic for a long time (despite one attempt by Arcee to take their relationship further) until chronic spark failure in the femme caused tension between them, both stressed over Arcee's continued survival. When she attempted to offline herself for the good of all involved, herself included, Ratchet flew into a rage, feeling betrayed after she lied to him so she could kill herself without him finding out until it was too late. Recent attempts to patch the relationship have not worked out; Arcee revealed that during a good portion of her life where she knew the medic, her systems were infiltrated and influenced by a Decepticon mole. Ratchet began to doubt whether he ever truly knew Arcee at all and if he could ever trust her again. In a bizarre turn of events wherein the Decepticon mole attempted to have Arcee offlined, she was EMPed a second time and eventually converted into a new femme with a new name. Ratchet is blissfully aware of Arcee's fate and will remain that way until further notice.

The Elite Guard in line with Ratchet's current timeline is being played through strikewithstyle (though the blog is primarily for Jazz's use above all else).

Ratchet is currently in a steady, romantic relationship with Communiqué (swift_beacon). More information about their ties during the Great War can be found in Kay's profile information.

It should be noted that this version of Ratchet is currently behind in terms of present TFA canon. Episode recaps and medic log musings will be posted periodically to cover canon events as they occur. Currently, Ratchet and his crew are caught up through "Black Friday" (episode 26).

Regarding Closed-Game NPCs: The entirety of the Autobot core cast except for Bulkhead (handled by arguewithmyself) is currently being handled via this LJ for purposes of closed, Nexus-based RP on the "Eleven" plot line. Any posts regarding canon episode recaps may be responded to by those on the flist handling their own versions of the other Autobots. The Nexus version of Ratchet, however, has separated himself from any other Animated related Autobots that may appear in the Nexus. All Autobots from this Ratchet's reality are controlled by his mun and the mun of arguewithmyself (if she chooses to take up any canon characters, such as Bulkhead). Due to a poor experience involving collaborative gaming within the same reality, the mun will not recognize any Animated characters in the Nexus not under her own control as being from this Ratchet's universe.
